When it comes to Philippe and Simón, there could be no two different brothers. Philippe, the younger of the two, loves to skateboard at the beach with his gaggle of noisy friends. Simon, the older of the two, loves his quiet time in the trees, on the trails, and in the mountains. But this never seems to stop them from trying to include the other one in their plans and playtime.
"Let's go, Simón," says Philippe. "Come with me! Let's get out of quiet little Bayonne for the day and go where the action is! Let's go to Bairritz [a town not so far away] and see the people, feel the sun, swim in the ocean, and have some fun! There are so many surfers, skaters, and even a movie star or two. It will blow your mind, man!"
"No, come with me, Philippe," says Simon. "There is nothing like being so far away, with nothing but the wind in the tall trees, and a great big horizon stretching out in front of you. There are so many beautiful views, interesting animals, and such fresh clean air. It will blow your mind, man!"
Well, they never do convince the other to join them. But when they both are done with the things they love to do, they always come home to Bayonne, to their home, to the room they share, and tell each other all about it. Yes the beach is big, they say. Yes, the forest is vast, they agree. But the little city of Bayonne, which sits in just the right spot between all of it, is just the right size of a city to come home too. Which is why they always will.
